I believe our collective sense-making capacities are disintegrating as our relationships with our geo/bio/socio/psycho/spiritual contexts unravel. Hopefully this is like a caterpillar disintegrating in a cocoon, the chapter before the glorious reveal of a beautiful new normal.

In this state of collapse (and hopefully emergence), I’m guided at least as much by intuition as formal knowledge. Here’s a snapshot of my current intuition:

  • we need to be working in ways that always increase our courage (where does courage come from?) and compassion (start with self) and capacity for meaning-making (deliberation helps)
  • we need to make peace with accelerating uncertainty (how?)
  • we need to pay attention to all scales of human relationship (self, pair, team, department, org, network, city, society, etc)

I’m working on a big new post that spells this out with more coherence, but for now at least, these are some of the dimensions I would test any strategy by.

Asking these questions out in public strikes me as a good place to start anyway!
